Branding

MeiraGTx is a biotech company focused on gene therapy for ocular diseases. The name Meira, meaning "light" in Hebrew, reflects the company's mission to restore vision. They needed a visual identity to support a new product launch and to establish a recognizable mark as the research moved toward public release.

Process

I began the project with a conceptual ideation phase, listing associations with light and vision. This allowed me to explore abstract connections and themes before committing to sketches. From this foundation, I developed symbols and forms that reflected the brand’s values in a thoughtful, non-literal way.

Final Design

The final logo uses an aperture-inspired symbol to suggest both an iris and a star, avoiding a literal depiction of an eyeball. The six-pointed star and hexagonal structure subtly reference the Star of David, tying back to the brand’s Hebrew roots. This approach delivers a modern, meaningful identity with both scientific and cultural resonance.
